MOUNDS VIEW CHARTER COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES <br /> December 19, 1985 <br /> I. Meeting called to order by Chairman Doty at 7:30 P.M. with recitation <br /> of the "Pledge Allegiance to the Flag". <br /> II. Roll Call <br /> Absent: Robert Beutel Milan Illig <br /> Charlotte Forslund William Werner, Sr. <br /> III. Approval of Minutes of December 12, 1984 <br /> Motion by Jean Miller, seconded by Don Hodges, to approve minutes of <br /> December 12, 1984, as presented. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> Approval of Minutes of January 9, 1985 <br /> Motion by Duane McCarty, seconded by Lowell Nygaard, to approve minutes <br /> of January 9, 1985, as presented. Motion passed. One abstention: Wally <br /> Skiba. <br /> IV. New Business <br /> The chairman read a letter dated May 21, 1985, (copy attached) from <br /> Don Pauley, city clerk-administrator, concerning House File No. 759 <br /> adopted by the 1985 Legislature and signed into law as Chapter No. 72 <br /> of the 1985 Laws of Minnesota relating to changes and procedures in <br /> deadlines for absentee ballots and changing the filing dates for municipal <br /> elections. <br /> The chairman_suggested that-the-Char-te Commission r-eeommen to--the Gity <br /> Council that they, by Ordinance, amend Chapter 4, Section 4.02, of the <br /> City Charter in order to conform with state law, Minnesota Statute 1984, <br /> Section 205.13, Sub 1, which changes the number of days to which a <br /> candidate may file for a municipal office. <br /> Following discussion, a motion was made by Judy Rowley, seconded by Lowell <br /> Nygaard, that the Mounds View Charter Commission recommend to the City <br /> Council that they, by Ordinance, amend Chapter 4, Section 4.02, of the <br /> City Charter to read as follows. Motion passed unanimously. <br />
