The approval of this ordinance would change the zoning of the ONeil property from B-1 and R-2
to Planned Unit Development. This ordinance was introduced at the May 12,1997 meeting.
Ms. Sheldon provided a brief update on the ring road proposal and the city's desire to get the intersection
signalized.
MOTION/SECOND: Koopmeiners/Trude to waive the reading and approve the adoption of Ordinance No.
598, An Ordinance Approving a Re-zoning from B-1 and R-2 to Planned Unit Development (PUD) for
Commercial Uses on the ONeil Property, 2430 Highway 10.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
• Mayor McCarty aye
Council member Trude aye
Council member Koopmeiners aye
Council member Stigney aye
Council member Quick aye
Motion Carried (5-0)
D. Council Authorization of Disposition of Surplus Property.
Mr. Whiting explained that he had drafted a proposal of a policy for disposing of surplus property. The policy
does not require Council approval, however the Council needs to approve the property up for disposal. He
referred to the memo from Mary Saarion, dated May 21, 1997 which was included in the agenda packet.
Mayor McCarty noted that the list of surplus property from the Bel Rae included a large restaurant size
stainless steel meat slicer and a stainless steel lettuce slicer. He felt these items should be retained in the
event that they can be used in the kitchen at the Bel Rae.
Council member Stigney asked about the condition of the tables and why the city would dispose of them.
Mr. Whiting noted that they are very heavy and in dis-repair. Council member Trude noted that the tables are
used at the city's festival and wondered if the Festival Committee should be consulted prior to disposing of
them. Perhaps they have an idea as to the number they use and the city could salvage the best ones. She also
suggested that some of the ashtrays, etc. be sold at the Festival as Bel Rae memorabilia.
MOTION/SECOND: Koopmeiners/Trude to Authorize the Disposition of Surplus Property AS AMENDED
(EXCLUDING the meat slicer and the lettuce slicer) and to authorize the staff to consider selling some of the
. smaller Bel Rae items as fund raisers for the festival.
