411 MV Charter Commission - Minutes - continued (3) <br /> XI NEW BUSINESS <br /> 1. Motion made by Curt Schmidt and seconded by Dick Lykke that Duane McCarty <br /> be appointed to act as Liaison between the Charter Commission and Mounds <br /> View City Council. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 2. Chairman, Bill Doty, suggested that the Commission appoint a Treasurer for <br /> the Commission, as the Commission is allocated $1500 annually for necessary <br /> expenses; such as, postage, printing, xeroxing, legal assistance, etc., for <br /> which accounting must be made. After much discussion, it was suggested that <br /> Ruth White act as Temporary Treasurer until such time as the office may <br /> become burdensome, in view of her other duties as Secretary. Position de- <br /> clined by Ruth White. Carol Ziebarth declined nomination. Surveying other <br /> members resulted in no acceptances. <br /> Thereupon, a motion was made by Duane McCarty and seconded by Walter Skiba <br /> that Ruth White be elected Temporary Treasurer of the Commission. Motion <br /> carried by majority vote. Ruth White abstained from voting, but did agree <br /> to act temporarily as Treasurer, in view of the fact that there were no <br /> other acceptances. <br /> 3. Neil Loeding indicated that material could be obtained from the City Admin- <br /> istrator regarding our present City Government, and suggested such material <br /> be obtained and copies made for all members of the sub-committee, "Present & <br /> Alternative Local Government Organization". The secretary was directed to <br /> obtain this material and have copies made to be given to the committee on <br /> December 13, 1978. <br /> 4. Chairman, Bill Doty, indicated that in the future all Charter Members may <br /> obtain a copy of the Minutes of meetings at City Hall in order to save <br /> postage expense, and alleviate an extra burden on the secretary. He noted <br /> that Minutes of City Council meetings are not mailed, but made available at <br /> City Hall prior to meetings. <br /> 5. Chairman, Bill Doty, advised that Secretary, Ruth White, as directed by <br /> the Commission, wrote a letter to Judge Hachey on November 23, 1978. Subject <br /> letter (copy attached) was read to the Commission by the chairman. <br /> 6. A copy of the Minnesota Statutes relating to Charter Commissions and Horne <br /> Rule Charters was given to the secretary with the request to have copies <br /> made for each. member of the Commission. <br /> • <br /> • <br />
