North Suburban Communications Commission Cable Study <br />About half (49.5%) of all cable subscribers have watched a program on a channel <br />delivered by CTV. Of these viewers: <br />46% said they watched programs on channels 14, 15 or 16 at least once <br />during the last month. About one-fourth said they watched programs on <br />channels 18, 19 or 20 at least once during the last month. About 7% said they <br />watched non -local programs on channel 21 at least once during the last <br />month. About 12% said they watched NASA TV on channel 98 at least once <br />during the last month. <br />About 37% say the picture and sound quality on these local channels is equal <br />to the picture and sound quality for the other channels of the cable system. <br />About 87% have watched City Council Meetings, about 57% have watched <br />Local Sports, and about 38% have watched School Board Meetings. <br />e When those who had watched a channel delivered by CTV were asked to grade <br />statements made about the services provided by CTV, two of the four statements <br />tested --provides programming that deals with local issues and provides a <br />valuable community service -- received a grade of "A" or "B" from almost 60% of <br />them. <br />® Nearly three-fourths (72.5%) of all cable subscribers think it is either Very <br />Important or Important to have cable channels that feature local programs. <br />When all respondents were asked how interested they would be in watching <br />each of 10 different categories of programming (detailed later in this report), <br />they indicated that they are most interested in local news & information <br />programs, followed by live concert programs and programs about local history, <br />arts and artists. <br />® About 28% of all subscribers know that local organizations can show programs <br />about their services on a channel delivered by CTV. Also, almost 20% know that <br />individuals can learn to make programs and show them on these channels. <br />As with all survey research, when reviewing these results and those that follow, we encourage <br />a review of the survey methodology, sample size and attendant sampling error. <br />Group W Communications, LLC 4 <br />
