Currently, Jennifer <br />has two dogs. Vader is a Boxer and Bee is a Chihuahua/Terrier Mix. Jennifer would <br />like to obtain a third dog in the near future which is the reason she is requesting a <br />residential dog kennel license at this time. Both of her existing dogs are current on their <br />rabies vaccination and have a current Mounds View dog license. Jennifer is aware of <br />the Mounds View dog licensing requirements and staff will verify licensing and <br />vaccination of the third dog when it is obtained. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />On August 25, 2014, the Mounds View City Council approved Ordinance 890, which <br />revised the requirements for obtaining a kennel license by not requiring residents to <br />present a petition, but instead send a public hearing notice to property owners within <br />five hundred feet (500’) of the subject property at least ten (10) days before the public <br />hearing. The City has sent notices of this public hearing to residents within 500 feet of <br />8395 Sunnyside Road as well as published the notice in the Sun-Focus Newspaper. <br /> <br />According to the Mounds View Police Department, there are no animal complaints on <br />file for this address. <br /> <br />Jennifer Jensen has been asked to be present at this meeting to answer any questions. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends opening the public hearing for public comment, and consider <br />Resolution 8993.
