Page 6 <br />October 26, 1998 <br />Mounds View City Council <br />organizations that are tax exempt. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Koopmeiners to release the use deed and return the property to <br />Ramsey County where it would be sold at public auction. <br />Discussion: Stigney suggested that the City buy the property as in investment or future potential <br />development. McCarty stated the City is not in the real estate business in competition with <br />private Realtors. Stigney asked the Motioner/Seconder to direct staff to research the issue and <br />see what options were available for TIF funding etc. Koopmeiners stated the property in <br />question is not an ideal piece of property and it has been sitting vacant for some time. He stated <br />the property would be better off going up for auction and let the private enterprise system <br />develop the land. <br />Economic Development Coordinator Carroll stated it would be nice to have an inventory of <br />developable properties, which in a sense the City does with the properties in the City that are <br />privately owned. These parcels of land can be promoted without acquiring ownership of them. <br />The City will actively assist developers in their attempts to improve properties within the City, <br />i he stated. <br />VOTE: Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 The motion carried. <br />8. REPORTS <br />Quick No Report <br />Koopmeiners No Report <br />Gunn stated she had visited the new Schwarz Super Rink located in Blaine, which is billed as <br />the largest indoor ice rink in the country. She encouraged all Mounds View citizens to visit and <br />use the facility. <br />Stigney No Report <br />Mayor McCarty asked for an update on the Golf Course from Director Kessel. <br />Kessel told the Council that the Golf Course has lost money since its opening. Part of this is due <br />to on-going litigation for construction issues. The Golf Course budget will be reviewed at an <br />upcoming Council meeting. A ten year projection, and restructuring plan, including cash flows, <br />will be reviewed at that time. <br />Mike Ulrich said there will be a Candidate Forum broadcast live on the City's cable access <br />
