MOUNDS VIEW CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br />. MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 1999 <br />7:00 PM <br />1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER <br />Mayor Coughlin calls meeting to order. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br /> <br />Mr. Whiting called roll. Mayor Coughlin, Council members Quick, Marty, Stigney, <br />Thomason, present. <br />3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />4. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS <br />Certificate of appreciation for Senior Station Captain Scott D. Drewitz, retired January 7, <br />1999, upon completion of 22 years of service with our department. He joined the <br />department on Apri13, 1976, while a senior at Centennial High School. The principal <br />had given special permission for Seniors to become volunteer fire fighters and respond <br />• during school hours to station four. In 1978 Scott moved to station one area where he <br />served the rest of his tenure with the department. He was promoted to the rank of <br />Captain m November 1980 and served as Senior Station One Captain from 1992 to 1994 <br />and again 1996 until his retirement. He also served as Station One Engineer, Fire <br />Inspector, Deputy Fire Marshal, and Auxiliary Instructor in the areas of medical and <br />aircraft training. Scott attended many special training classes on various areas of fire <br />fighting including fire inspection and prevention, arson detection, radiological <br />monitoring, fire command, leadership, hazardous materials emergencies. He was <br />certified as an EMT, paramedic and at the fire fighter one, two and three levels. During <br />his 22 years of service, Scott responded to more than 3150 fire calls, and attended over <br />1000 weekly drills. In addition to his fire fighting duties, he willingly assisted with the <br />fire prevention and public fire education presentations and events and participated in our <br />annual open house and tours. Scott received several awards over the years and that <br />included an award of merit for outstanding service in District One in 1981, and award of <br />valor for rescuing a resident at a house fire in 1982, a distinguished service award for <br />exemplary performance in contributions to the fire department and community in 1984, <br />award of merit for attending the most drills at station one in 1985 and 1986, and the fire <br />chief s honorable mention for duties beyond expectations in 1986. The City of Mounds <br />View recognizes Scott D. Drewitz, Senior Station Captain of the Blaine/Spring Lake <br />Park/Mounds View Fire Department, and presented him with a certificate of appreciation. <br />Mayor Coughlin requested reports. <br />Mr. Sti a indicated that he had attended the Plannin Commission meetin .The <br />lm Y g g <br />Planning Commission reviewed their bylaws, making some minor changes to clarify <br />
