This program will increase day -time staff immediately available to respond to emergencies from <br />6 to 10 (if fully staffed), without significantly increasing cost to the City. Participants of the City <br />Responder program may be added at any time at the discretion of the City of Fridley, provided a <br />minimum of five are maintained. Increasing the City Responder pool shall not decrease Fridley <br />Fire Department staffing in any way. The City Responder is intended to provide a flexible <br />program designed to augment the full-time staff of the Fridley Fire Department. <br />Vnlunteer <br />• Maintain a group of 24 Volunteer/POC personnel <br />• Reorganize structure and add two volunteer Battalion Chiefs. Identical structure to <br />SBMFD volunteer Stations <br />• Work with Relief Association to merge plans <br />• Follow all service requirements of the SBMFD <br />• Volunteer/POC personnel will primarily staff the City of Fridley on weeknights, <br />weekends and holidays <br />• Full-time staff may be part of the Volunteer/POC group <br />• Pay and relief plan decisions yet to be determined <br />Duty Chief Program <br />• Primarily staffed by Volunteer/POC Battalion Chiefs. To maintain depth, Volunteer <br />Captains may also participate. <br />• Battalion Chiefs will be assigned a take-home emergency response vehicle equipped with <br />BLS, Command and atmospheric monitoring equipment and other necessary tools and <br />equipment. <br />• Weekday Duty Chief will be staffed by full-time personnel. <br />• The Duty Chief will respond to all alarms during their assigned shift. Many calls <br />including Automatic Fire Alarms will be a Duty Chief Only response. The response <br />matrix and resources assigned by call type will be determined in accordance with current <br />SBMFD Policies/Standard Operating Guidelines. <br />National Standard Staffing <br />• Goal of the staffing plan is to provide staffing and response times in accordance with <br />NFPA 1710 <br />o Four personnel on the first arriving unit for medical emergencies, fires and <br />rescues <br />o Minimum 17 for working structure fires <br />o Safe staffing is considered four personnel per Engine/Truck/Quint <br />o Auto Aid from SBMFD and other will fill out the rest of the assignment <br />12 Page <br />
