Each subsequent year, the capital amount funded ($300,000) <br />increases 1 %. <br />Relief Organizations <br />Benefits upon retirement for is one of the largest tools we have for recruiting and <br />retaining volunteer personnel. Currently, the Spring Lake Park Firefighter's Relief has an <br />excellent retirement plan and is the only volunteer firefighter's relief that provides a monthly <br />annuity through the Statewide Volunteer Firefighter Retirement Plan. Currently, retirees who <br />meet plan requirements received $41 /month/year of service upon retirement. The SBMFD <br />contributes (along with the Cities and State Aid amounts) to the Spring Lake Park Firefighter's <br />Relief Retirement plan. <br />The Fridley Firefighters Relief does not participate in the Statewide Volunteer <br />Retirement Plan and is a lump sum program. Upon implementation of the proposal, SBMFD <br />Staff, City Staff and Relief Officers from both departments will need to meet and discuss options <br />for the Fridley Firefighter's Relief Association. It is anticipated that this will the most difficult <br />and time-consuming portion of the proposal. <br />Legal Provisions <br />The legal provisions of this agreement will be executed in a fee for service contact like <br />the contractual agree between SBMFD and the Cities of Spring Lake Park, Mounds View and <br />Blaine.
