Item No: 8G <br />MTL�Ar Meeting Date: September 10, 2018 <br />0 S Vli..1� V Type of Business: Council Business <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Nyle Zikmund, City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9014 Accepting a Donation from Bethlehem Baptist <br />Church in the Amount of $15,000 and Approving Distribution of <br />Funds as Specified <br />Introduction: <br />Bethlehem Baptist Church purchased the building at 5151 Program Avenue in 2004 and <br />received approval to renovate the former office / warehouse space for church usage. At <br />the same time, the Church expressed its desire to support worthy community endeavors <br />and created the "Mounds View Service Project Fund" pledging annual donations. They <br />envisioned the fund to be used to help meet certain needs jointly identified by the city and <br />the Church that would be "in harmony" with their mission and values. <br />Discussion: <br />Representatives from the City, the Community Center and the Park & Recreation <br />Commission have discussed potential funding opportunities for the second half 2018 <br />service project fund donation which totals $15,000. A number of programs and <br />improvements which had been reviewed by the representatives were highlighted for <br />Bethlehem's consideration. The Church's Pastor for Outreach, Vince Johnson, responded <br />with a letter dated February 15, 2018, recommending the following disbursement schedule: <br />• Shield 616 Replacement Program (PD) $2,400 <br />• Ralph Reeder $27500 <br />• Quincy House $2,500 <br />• Community Support Center (YMCA) $2,500 <br />• Tot Time Program Supplies $17000 <br />• Police Explorer/Reserve Start Up $2,500 <br />• City Hall Fitness Equipment $1,600 <br />Recommendation: <br />Attached for your consideration is Resolution 9014, a resolution which accepts the <br />donation from Bethlehem Baptist Church in the amount of $15,000 and authorizes the <br />distribution of the donations according to the Church's recommendations. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />LA Z <br />Nyle mu <br />City Administrator <br />
