She noted she had chickens at her <br />house in Columbia Heights for three years. She reported she was a responsible chicken owner <br />and would properly manage her coop. She indicated she had not received any complaints from <br />her previous neighbors. She stated she would be installing a privacy fence which would ensure <br />the chickens were not a problem for her neighbors. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller commented on Ms. O’Donnell’s coop and asked when she would have her fence <br />constructed. Ms. O’Donnell reported the fence would be installed this fall. <br /> <br />Hearing no further public input, Mayor Mueller closed the public hearing at 7:24 p.m. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause asked if the applicant had applied for a building permit for the <br />fence. City Administrator Zikmund stated she was still working through the fence issues with <br />staff. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Hull/Gunn. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8990, <br />Approving a Chicken/Duck License for Rebecca O’Donnell, 8145 Red Oak Drive. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />B. Public Hearing: Consideration of Resolution 8993, Approving a Residential <br />Dog Kennel License for Jennifer Jensen, 8395 Sunnyside Road. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council approve a residential dog kennel license for <br />Jennifer Jensen at 8395 Sunnyside Road. He reported Ms. Jensen would like to have three dogs <br />on their property and noted she would not be breeding. Staff provided further comment and <br />recommended approval of the request. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller opened the public hearing at 7:28 p.m. <br /> <br />Cheryl Bormhorst, 8405 Sunnyside Road, stated she has lived next to the Jensen’s for the past 14 <br />years. She explained Jensen’s were very responsible pet owners and she offered her support to <br />the residential dog kennel license. <br /> <br />Jennifer Jensen, 8395 Sunnyside Road, thanked the Council for their consideration. She <br />explained she had two dogs and one was getting quite old. She discussed the dog rescuing she <br />had done in the past and explained her goal was to bring a dog into nursing homes for therapy <br />training. She reported that she would not be breeding and would not have an outdoor kennel <br />building. <br /> <br />Hearing no further public input, Mayor Mueller closed the public hearing at 7:32 p.m. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Meehlhause.
