Mounds View City Council August 27, 2018 <br />Regular Meeting Page 3 <br /> <br />purchase of special equipment not otherwise available to the Police Department. She provided <br />further comment on the fundraising efforts that have occurred during the past year. She reported <br />the Foundation was currently raising funds for a bite suit for the department’s K-9 officer. She <br />reviewed the events that have been sponsored by the Foundation in 2018 and stated she was <br />extremely proud of the New Americans Academy and explained the City of Blaine was looking <br />to create a similar program. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn stated on September 16th the Lions will be putting on a Waffle Breakfast <br />at the Community Center and a portion of the funds raised will be going to the Mounds View <br />Police Foundation. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause commented on a recent success story that he heard at an NYFS <br />board meeting and commended the Mounds View Police Department for their efforts within the <br />Diversion Program. He also thanked the members in the Diversion Program for their assistance <br />at Festival in the Park. <br /> <br /> C. Festival in the Park Car Show Awards. <br /> a. Steve Johnson – Class 800 2nd Place – Shelby GT. <br /> b. Jim Underhill – Bolton & Menk Award Sponsor – 1972 Olds Cutlass <br />Convertible. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller presented Steve Johnson with an award for his Shelby GT and thanked him for <br />participating in Festival in the Park. She then presented resident Don Elofson, accepting on <br />behalf of Jim Underhill, with the Bolton & Menk Award for his 1972 Olds Cutlass Convertible. <br />A round of applause was presented by all in attendance. <br /> <br /> D. Presentation of Certificate of Appreciation to CG Hill & Sons, Inc. for <br />Assisting with Park Clean Up after Festival in the Park. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller explained staff would be presenting a Certificate of Appreciation to <br />representatives from CG Hill & Sons, Inc. for assisting with cleanup efforts after Festival in the <br />Park. She reported the City thanks CG Hill & Sons for their efforts on behalf of the community. <br /> <br />8. COUNCIL BUSINESS <br />A. Public Hearing: Consideration of Resolution 8990, Approving a <br />Chicken/Duck License for Rebecca O’Donnell at 8145 Red Oak Drive. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council approve a chicken/duck license for Rebecca <br />O’Donnell at 8145 Red Oak Drive. He explained Ms. O’Donnell would like to free roam their <br />chickens and noted staff had inspected their fencing. Staff provided further comment on the <br />request and recommended approval. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller opened the public hearing at 7:19 p.m. <br /> <br />Rebecca O’Donnell, 8145 Red Oak Drive, thanked the Council for their consideration and stated
