MOU—NDs VIEW <br />City of Mounds View Staff R <br />Item No: 5.E. <br />Meeting Date: October 8, 2018 <br />Type of Business: Consent Agenda <br />Administrator review: <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Mark Beer, Finance Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9022, Approving the Promotion of Kerrie Kane to <br />the Utility Billing/Accounts Payable Technician Position <br />Background: <br />With the recent retirement of Debbie Jasper, the City will need to fill her position. The <br />City Council has supported the plan of promoting Kerrie Kane to that position. Kerrie has <br />been cross training for many of the duties required and is well prepared to step into this <br />position. <br />Discussion: <br />Ms. Kane began her employment as a temporary employee filling the vacant receptionist <br />position. After several months of excellent performance Ms. Kane was hired to fill the <br />receptionist position in a full-time permanent capacity on March 4, 2017. She has <br />provided exemplary service in her time as the City's receptionist and has shown a desire <br />to learn and take on more duties. She has assisted the finance department performing <br />many different tasks over that time period and is well prepared to assume the duties of <br />Utility Billing/Accounts Payable technician. <br />Ms. Kane is currently at step 5 or $24.55 of the Receptionist pay range. The pay range <br />for the UB/AP Technician position is as follows: <br />Step 1 <br />Step 1.5 <br />Step 2 <br />Step 3 <br />Step 4 <br />Step 5 <br />$23.40 <br />$24.14 <br />$24.864$26.33 <br />$27.79 <br />$29.25 <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends that she be promoted to step 3 or $26.33 of the 2018 Compensation <br />Plan effective October 1, 2018.
