CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Director of Public Works <br />Department: Public Works <br />Accountable to: Clerk-Administrator <br />Status: Exempt <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION <br />Performs complex supervisory, administrative and professional work in planning, <br />organizing, directing, and supervising the Public Works Department, including <br />the water delivery system, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and surface water <br />management, streets and infrastructure, trailways, traffic ~~nt~el mitigation, the public works <br />garage and maintenance facility. ~--prejests-and-ass- ~+s <br />~ss+t+ea-afse--r~ Manages the maintenance of the Community Center, City parks F-a~ <br />and all other City owned facilities. Oversees public improvement projects <br />and reviews, approves, and executes City, County, and State plans. Directs parks <br />administrative activities and provides direction and support to the Parks and Recreation and <br />Forestry Commission. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />This position reports to the Clerk-Administrator. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Exercises supervision over all public works staff. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />• Plans, organizes, coordinates, supervises and evaluates programs, plans, services, <br />staffing, equipment and infrastructure of the public works department. <br />• Evaluates public works needs and formulates short and long range plans to meet <br />needs in all areas of responsibility, including transportation, street, water, sewer, <br />drainage, and park maintenance. <br />• Supervises the review of private project development plans for compliance with <br />codes, regulations, and standards, adequacy of applications for permits and <br />compliance with approved plans. <br />• Oversees the development a~-update and implementation of the Streets and Utilities <br />Infrastructure Improvement Program -ran~e+~tfe~--~~ <br />/Trr~-p J, Comprehensive Sewer Plan, Comprehensive Water Plan, the Capital <br />Improvement Program and other plans involving the municipal infrastructure. <br />• Determines applicable codes, regulations and requirements for assigned projects. <br />
