Item 08A <br />Page 4 <br />Parking <br />Landscaping <br />Required <br />Proposed <br />School 582 <br />221 <br />Pool 873 <br />TOTAL 1454 <br />A Variance has been approved for the north <br />parking lot, to reduce the setback from 30' to <br />14' along Edgewood Drive. <br />The Planning Commission recommended that <br />additional signage be added to the north <br />parking lot to discourage access to Woodale <br />Dr. <br />Within the R-1 district, there are no <br />landscaping requirements, other than <br />establishing a lawn. Disturbed areas are <br />proposed to be sodded. <br />Staff is recommending that trees and shrubs <br />be installed in high traffic pedestrian areas <br />(yellow highlighted at left): <br />1. Shrubs between north parking lot and gym. <br />2. Shrubs between bus loading area (east <br />parking lot) and building. <br />3. Trees & shrubs in parking lot islands (north <br />& east parking lots) <br />4. Ornamental trees along east side of south <br />driveway (east parking lot). <br />2 City Code, Section 1121.13 (School, elementary and junior high); "At least (1) parking space for each classroom <br />[44] plus (1) additional space for each 50 student capacity" [691 student enrollment / 50 = 14] <br />s City Code, Section 1121.13 (public swimming pool) <br />4 In 1982, a CUP was approved to convert Edgewood Jr. High School (closed at the time) into a Community Center <br />(Resolution 1493), and a Variance to reduce the required number of parking stalls, from 843 to 161, provided <br />proof of parking for an additional 82 stalls was provided (Resolution 57-82). <br />
