<br />Item No: 8.E. <br />Meeting Date: February 11, 2019 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator review: _______ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Rayla Sue Ewald, Human Resources Coordinator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9079, the Amendment to Resolution 8969 for <br />Peter Szurek to Advance to Step 3 of 2018 Pay Plan <br />Effective December 18, 2018 According to Offer Letter <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Resolution 8969 was approved May 29, 2018 to hire Peter Szurek as the City’s Public <br />Works Superintendent. Prior to accepting the position, Mr. Szurek negotiated a starting <br />wage of Step 2 of the 2018 pay plan, with advancement to Step 3 at six (6) months <br />when he successfully completed his probationary period. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />An oversight happened with the drafting of Resolution 8969 which stated Mr. Szurek <br />would be required to complete a six (6) month probation period, and at one (1) year <br />move to Step 3 of the 2018 pay plan. At this time staff would like to correct the error <br />and request Council approve the wage adjustment to Step 3 of the 2018 Pay Plan <br />effective retroactive to December 18, 2018. By approving Resolution 9079, the wording <br />will agree with the offer letter received by Mr. Szurek. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Amend Resolution 8969 through Resolution 9079 and approve Mr. Szurek advance to <br />Step 3 of the 2018 Pay Plan effective retroactively to December 18, 2018 per the <br />negotiated job offer letter.
