Mounds View City Council April 8, 2019 <br />Regular Meeting Page 3 <br /> <br /> <br />Public Works Director Peterson requested the Council award a construction contract to North <br />Valley, Inc. for the 2019 Street and Park Lot Improvement Project. He commented on the bid <br />process that was followed and noted the bid included an alternate for the SBM Fire Station #1 <br />parking lot. He reported the SBM Fire Department has decided to withdraw from this project. <br />He reviewed the engineering and pavement costs for the project with the Council and <br />recommended approval. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller asked if a 17% contingency was typical for street improvement projects. Public <br />Works Director Peterson stated this percentage was slightly higher than normal. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 9095, <br />Awarding a Construction Contract to North Valley, Inc. for the 2019 Street and Parking Lot <br />Improvement Project. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />B. Resolution 9096, Accepting Bids Received by the City of Coon Rapids Joint <br />Powers Agreement for 2019 Seal Coating. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Peterson requested the Council accept bids received by the City of Coon <br />Rapids Joint Powers Agreement for the 2019 seal coating project. He reviewed the streets <br />included in this project, noting Area E would be seal coated. He discussed the bid process that <br />was followed for this project and recommended the Council accept the bids and award the <br />project. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Hull/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 9096, <br />Accepting Bids Received by the City of Coon Rapids Joint Powers Agreement for 2019 Seal <br />Coating. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated he appreciated the savings Mounds View was receiving <br />through the Joint Powers Agreement that was entered into with the City of Coon Rapids. <br />Finance Director Beer reported the City was saving on the expense for sealcoating and for <br />engineering expenses. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />C. Resolution 9097, Approving the Purchase and Installation of (2) 20’ x 20’ <br />Park Shelters for City Hall Park. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Peterson requested the Council approve the purchase and installation of <br />two 20’ by 20’ park shelters for City Hall Park. He explained this purchase had been discussed <br />by the Council at a worksession meeting. He commented on the proposal that was received from <br />Minnesota Wisconsin Playground noting the shelters would cost $57,529. It was noted the park <br />shelters would be metal structures. He reported the project would be paid for through the Park
