The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br /> <br />Item No: 5.E. <br />Meeting Date: June 10, 2019 <br />Type of Business: Consent Agenda <br />City Administrator Review: _____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Rayla Sue Ewald, Human Resources Coordinator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9125, Appointing Hanna Kenow to Police <br />Administrative Assistant <br /> <br />Introduction: <br /> <br />Resolution 9106 passed on April 22, 2019, which approved the hiring of a Police <br />Administrative Assistant. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br />A posting based on the job description was published for 10 working days on the City’s <br />web site, the League of Minnesota Cities web site, and Indeed.com. Over 600 <br />candidates submitted resumes. Of those, 112 candidates submitted completed <br />application packets by the application deadline. The applications were scored with 10 <br />individuals being interviewed by Police Department personnel and the Human <br />Resources Coordinator. <br /> <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: <br /> <br />Create a culture where employees desire to work. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />This is a budgeted position. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />The panel is recommending the Council appoint Ms. Hanna Kenow to the position of <br />Police Administrative Assistant starting June 25, 2019. Due to her previous work <br />experience, the panel recommends Ms. Kenow start at Step 1.5 in the 2019 <br />compensation plan, complete a six-month probationary period and advance to Step 2. <br />Step 3 will follow one year later (1½ years after her start date) based on successful job <br />performance. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />________________________ <br />Rayla Sue Ewald <br />Human Resources Coordinator
