CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: <br />Police Records/Evidence Technician <br />Department: <br />Police <br />Accountable To: <br />Chief of Police <br />FLSA Status: <br />Non -Exempt <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION <br />Maintain a variety of police records and files in an updated and accurate status at all <br />times to ensure ready access to information as required or requested. Act as Terminal <br />Agency Coordinator (TAC) for the Department, complying with state and federal <br />requirements for training and auditing. Disseminate important information as needed. <br />Manage police property room. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Receive general work direction and guidance from the Deputy Chief and Chief of Police. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />None. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />TERMINAL AGENCY COORDINATOR (TAC)/RECORDS MANAGEMENT <br />• Act as Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) for the Department, complying with <br />state and federal requirements for training, auditing, and validations. <br />• Responsible for MINCIS-NCIC entry of computerized records ensuring <br />compliance with state and federal regulations. <br />• Compile statistical information for crime prevention reports, weekly crime <br />summary and crime free multi -housing updates. <br />• Maintain knowledge of Government Data Practices Act and process data <br />requests, researching matters as required. Respond to requests by court <br />personnel, attorneys, insurance companies, probation officers, social service <br />agencies, local businesses and others. <br />• Provide services to all members of the police department, including proofreading <br />materials for accuracy, taking messages, processing routine correspondence and <br />transcription. <br />• Provide appropriate service to other governmental agencies and the public, <br />respond to inquiries and complaints, receive and route calls, emails and faxes. <br />• Process, file and classify incident reports to ensure compliance with established <br />procedures. <br />0 Attend seminars or review information provided by the BCA to keep abreast of <br />
