Police Records/Evidence Technician <br />June 24, 2019 <br />Page 3 <br />PERIPHERAL DUTIES <br />• Keep the Deputy Chief and Chief of Police informed on all matters which must be <br />known to effectively manage department operations. <br />• Perform other responsibilities as delegated. <br />• Maintain good judgment in controlling communication to ensure that no <br />confidential or inappropriate information is released. <br />• May serve on adhoc or standing committees as necessary. <br />• Assist officers with crime prevention and outreach programs. <br />EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />(A) High School Diploma or equivalent GED <br />(B) Must possess or be able to obtain State of Minnesota terminal operator's <br />certification <br />(C) Minimum of two years clerical or records management experience <br />(D) Must pass background investigation <br />(E) Must possess by time of hire, a valid Minnesota Driver's License <br />DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS <br />(A) Associates or Bachelor's degree. <br />(B) Previous experience in a law enforcement clerical or administrative position. <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />(A) Working knowledge of office procedures. <br />(B) Sound knowledge and experience with computer software packages, particularly <br />Microsoft Office systems and management information systems. <br />(C) Strong business writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff <br />and residents. <br />(D) Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects and meet deadlines. <br />SPECIAL REQUIRMENTS <br />Ability to attain certification in the Criminal Justice Data Network (CJDN) <br />Ability to attain certification in the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) <br />Notary <br />TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED <br />Phone system; personal computer, including word processing software; copy machine; <br />postage machine; fax machine; portable radio for communications to patrol officers; <br />calculator. <br />
