Mounds View City Council July 22, 2019 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br /> <br />from the Police Department could become problematic. He described the inspection process that <br />was followed on a yearly basis. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn reported the I-35W Coalition met and a decision was made to dissolve <br />the group. She explained this group has done their due diligence and the I-35W improvement <br />project was underway. She indicated the necessary paperwork has been forwarded to the City <br />Administrator for signature. She anticipated the City would be receiving a small amount of funds <br />back from this group. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn invited all residents to attend the National Night Out Pre-Party at City <br />Hall on Saturday, August 3rd from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. She explained National Night Out <br />would be held on Tuesday, August 6th. She encouraged residents to register their neighborhood <br />parties with the Mounds View Police Department. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn reported Festival in the Park would be held on Saturday, August 17th at <br />Silver View Park. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause reported the Twin Cities Convention and Visitor’s Bureau met at <br />Moe’s last week. He thanked Steve Markuson and Al Stauffacher for their tremendous marketing <br />efforts. He then reviewed the hotel hospitality tax revenues for 2019. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller stated she received a letter from the Mayor of North Oaks thanking her for her <br />service on the League of Minnesota Cities Committee that helped complete the awards judging. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller noted she attended a Five Cities meeting last Monday where workforce and <br />market rate housing was discussed. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller reported on Monday, July 15th she toured the affordable workforce housing <br />project that is being constructed at the corner of Mounds View Boulevard and Groveland Road. <br />She discussed the amenities that would be included in the housing units and indicated this was <br />shaping up to be a beautiful facility. Fall 2019 occupancy is planned. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller wished Vanessa Van Alstine all the best in her retirement. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller reported the Festival in the Park Committee was seeking volunteers to assist with <br />setting up for the Car Show on Friday, August 16th. She noted there was also a need to help with <br />parking the cars. <br /> <br /> B. Reports of Staff. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Peterson reported seasonal employees will be off to college in the first <br />weeks of August and noted he would be hiring fall seasonal employees shortly. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Peterson stated the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission was <br />wondering if they should continue looking into a dog park.
