Mounds View City Council August 12, 2019 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br />1 explained the County continued their work on Long Lake Road and information on this project <br />2 was available on Ramsey County's webpage. <br />3 <br />4 Public Works Director Peterson indicated staff has received concerns regarding the amount of <br />5 parking that was occurring on Edgewood Drive for people visiting the splash pad. He indicated <br />6 the Council could consider eliminating parking on the east side of the street. Further discussion <br />7 ensued regarding the parking situation surrounding the splash pad. The Council supported the <br />8 elimination of parking on the east side of Edgewood. <br />9 <br />10 Public Works Director Peterson explained a portion of the playground equipment that was at City <br />11 Hall Park would be relocated to Random Park. <br />12 <br />13 i. 1St and 2nd Quarter Police Report <br />14 <br />15 Police Chief Harder reviewed the 1St and 2nd Quarter Police report with the Council. He <br />16 explained arrests and traffic stops were up given the fact the Mounds View Police Department <br />17 now had a full-time traffic officer. He commented on the benefits of the VCET team's <br />18 intelligence. He discussed the numerous community outreach events the Police Department had <br />19 scheduled and he thanked his officers for participating in the Special Olympics Torch Run. <br />20 <br />21 Mayor Mueller requested the 1St and 2nd Quarter Police reports be posted on the City's website. <br />22 Police Chief Harder explained this would be done and the information would be made available <br />23 to the public. <br />24 <br />25 Mayor Mueller discussed how busy the department's K-9 officers have been this year and <br />26 commended each officer for their great work on behalf of the community. Police Chief Harder <br />27 stated he was extremely proud of both of the department's handlers and K -9's. <br />28 <br />29 City Administrator Zikmund reported the Council would be holding a strategic planning retreat <br />30 on Monday, August 19th at Random Park at 6:00 p.m. <br />31 <br />32 City Administrator Zikmund explained the comment period on the Tobacco 21 Ordinance would <br />33 expire in two weeks, on August 20th <br />34 <br />35 Theresa Cermak provided the Council with an update on the events the Police Foundation would <br />36 be running at Festival in the Park. She explained this group would be in charge of bingo and <br />37 other children's games. She indicated she was still seeking volunteers to assist with Festival in <br />38 the Park. She noted she would be retiring from the Festival in the Park Committee after 26 years <br />39 of service to the community. The Council offered Ms. Cermak a round of applause and thanked <br />40 her for her dedicated service to the City. <br />41 <br />42 C.
