EDC Minutes <br />November 16, 2018 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br />Resolution No 18-EDC-43 Establishing EDC Meeting Calendar for 2019 <br /> <br />Chair Freichels asked if there were any changes to the proposed 2019 meeting <br />calendar. Hearing no comments, Chair Freichels asked for a motion to approve. <br /> <br />Motion/Second: Commissioner Stevenson moved and Commissioner Farmer seconded <br />the motion to approve the proposed 2019 meeting calendar as presented. <br /> <br />Update from Comprehensive Plan Task Force Members <br /> <br />Task Force Member Farmer provided the Commission an update stating that the group <br />had not met throughout the summer and it is expected that the task force will meet again <br />December 4, 2018 to discuss the future land use map and possibly a rough draft of the <br />Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Update on New Business Categories to fill Vacancies <br /> <br />Commissioner Muckala provided an update stating the goal is to target high-tech and <br />medical companies looking to locate to the Mounds View area. Muckala completed a list <br />of these companies and Coordinator Beeman has been contacting those businesses as <br />well as continued discussion with local businesses on their vacant space. Many start-up <br />businesses have a need for assistance in helping to pay for their lease space. This is <br />something the EDC may want to consider in the future. Muckala is also working on some <br />promotional materials to help target those industries. <br /> <br />7. REPORTS OF STAFF <br /> <br />Crossroad Pointe Redevelopment Project <br /> <br />Coordinator, Beeman provided the Commission with a historical process update on <br />Crossroad Ponte to date. Beeman stated that the developer will be meeting with the <br />EDA in December to continue discussions on the purchase agreement. The EDA will <br />consider a three month extension to the predevelopment agreement at its November 26, <br />2018 meeting. <br /> <br />Rice Creek Commons <br /> <br />Beeman informed the Commission that Ramsey County send a letter to the City of <br />Arden Hills stating that they will not allocate anymore resources to the project in the form <br />of staff time until the City can show that they are serious about the development. Council <br />Member Meehlhause confirmed this by stating that the City of Arden Hills doesn’t want <br />the density that the County is proposing. <br /> <br />North Metro Business Council <br /> <br />The next North Metro Business Council meeting will be held at the Mermaid Event <br />Center December 12, 2018 from 7:30-9:00 a.m. Commissioner Helgemoe stated that the <br />topic will be hospitality and a presenter from Hospitality Minnesota will be speaking <br />about hotels, resorts, and restaurants.
