The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br /> <br />Item No: 08C <br />Meeting Date: December 9, 2019 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: ____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From: Nyle Zikmund, City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9209, Approving the 2020 City Council Meeting, <br />Council/Staff Retreats, and the Town Hall Meeting Dates <br /> <br />Introduction <br />The City Council approves a Council meeting schedule annually in December. <br /> <br />Discussion <br />Based on the Council’s historical schedule of conducting work sessions on the first Monday of <br />each month and regular Council meeting on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, <br />attached is a proposed list of meeting dates for 2020 (Exhibit A). Also included are EDA meetings <br />which are typically held just prior to the regular Council meetings. <br /> <br />The following legal holidays fall on dates that would otherwise be considered meeting dates: <br />September 7th (Labor Day) is a Work Session and May 25th (Memorial Day) is a regular Council <br />Meeting. Staff is proposing Tuesday, September 8th for the Work Session and Tuesday, May <br />26th for the regular Council meeting. <br /> <br />Based on council direction, there will also be a special council meeting on January 6, 2020, prior <br />to the work session for the purpose of board and commission appointments and any other <br />business the council deems appropriate for the special meeting. <br /> <br />Council and Staff have not discussed the retreat dates. <br /> <br />With regard to the town hall meeting, it has been scheduled for Monday, April 20th. Staff <br />recommends again that the town hall meeting be located at Mounds View City Hall starting at <br />6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: N/A <br /> <br />Financial Impact: None <br /> <br />Recommendation: Please advise Staff as to which dates you desire for the Council/Staff <br />retreats. Staff will add the dates to Exhibit A of Resolution 9209 following the meeting.
