Mounds View City Council December 9, 2019 Regular Meeting Page 8 Council Member Gunn thanked all who attended the Lions Waffle Breakfast on Sunday, 1 December 8th at the Edgewood Middle School. She noted all funds raised at this event would go 2 back directly to the local schools. 3 4 Council Member Meehlhause stated the Lions Club accepts used eye glasses at the Mounds View 5 Community Center. 6 7 Council Member Meehlhause reported he attended a YMCA Advisory Committee meeting on 8 Monday, December 2nd with Council Member Gunn. He discussed the attendance highlights for 9 2019 programming at the Mounds View Community Center. 10 11 Council Member Meehlhause explained he would be attending several NYFS meetings over the 12 coming weeks. 13 14 Council Member Meehlhause wished everyone Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. 15 16 Council Member Bergeron reported he attended a Cable Commission meeting on Thursday, 17 December 5th. He noted CTV would be holding a garage sale on used equipment in mid to late 18 January. 19 20 Mayor Mueller wished everyone a safe and blessed holiday season and joyous New Year. She 21 stated she was very disappointed to see the temperatures were plummeting and thanked the 22 Public Works Department for their tremendous efforts to keep the City’s streets free and clear of 23 snow. She encouraged residents to consider making a donation to a local organization that helps 24 those in need or to the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. 25 26 Mayor Mueller reported she would be attending a Ramsey County Dispatch Policy meeting on 27 Tuesday, December 10th in Arden Hills. 28 29 Mayor Mueller indicated the Minnesota Women in Government would be meeting next on 30 Friday, December 13th where the group will be updating its membership brochure. 31 32 Mayor Mueller read a statement in full for the record from City Attorney Riggs regarding 33 Council action to request the Court to remove Brian Amundsen from the Mounds View Charter 34 Commission. She commented on October 28, 2019 Ramsey County District Court Judge John 35 Guthman denied the City’s request. She reported the City Council request to remove Mr. 36 Amundsen was based on the fact the Chair of the Charter Commission resigned and four other 37 members had conversations with staff or Council stating they would resign or had significant 38 concerns. In fact, shortly after the ruling, a second member has now resigned. She explained the 39 City Council had met in Closed Session with the City Attorney on November 25, 2019 per 40 Minnesota Statute 13D.05, subd.3(b) to discuss this decision and the options for the City. At this 41 point, the City considers this issue to be closed. She thanked the City Attorney for preparing this 42 statement for the City Council. 43 44
