Mounds View City Council December 9, 2019 <br />Regular Meeting Page 8 <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn thanked all who attended the Lions Waffle Breakfast on Sunday, 1 <br />December 8th at the Edgewood Middle School. She noted all funds raised at this event would go 2 <br />back directly to the local schools. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated the Lions Club accepts used eye glasses at the Mounds View 5 <br />Community Center. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Council Member Meehlhause reported he attended a YMCA Advisory Committee meeting on 8 <br />Monday, December 2nd with Council Member Gunn. He discussed the attendance highlights for 9 <br />2019 programming at the Mounds View Community Center. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Council Member Meehlhause explained he would be attending several NYFS meetings over the 12 <br />coming weeks. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Council Member Meehlhause wished everyone Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Council Member Bergeron reported he attended a Cable Commission meeting on Thursday, 17 <br />December 5th. He noted CTV would be holding a garage sale on used equipment in mid to late 18 <br />January. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Mayor Mueller wished everyone a safe and blessed holiday season and joyous New Year. She 21 <br />stated she was very disappointed to see the temperatures were plummeting and thanked the 22 <br />Public Works Department for their tremendous efforts to keep the City’s streets free and clear of 23 <br />snow. She encouraged residents to consider making a donation to a local organization that helps 24 <br />those in need or to the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Mayor Mueller reported she would be attending a Ramsey County Dispatch Policy meeting on 27 <br />Tuesday, December 10th in Arden Hills. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Mayor Mueller indicated the Minnesota Women in Government would be meeting next on 30 <br />Friday, December 13th where the group will be updating its membership brochure. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Mayor Mueller read a statement in full for the record from City Attorney Riggs regarding 33 <br />Council action to request the Court to remove Brian Amundsen from the Mounds View Charter 34 <br />Commission. She commented on October 28, 2019 Ramsey County District Court Judge John 35 <br />Guthman denied the City’s request. She reported the City Council request to remove Mr. 36 <br />Amundsen was based on the fact the Chair of the Charter Commission resigned and four other 37 <br />members had conversations with staff or Council stating they would resign or had significant 38 <br />concerns. In fact, shortly after the ruling, a second member has now resigned. She explained the 39 <br />City Council had met in Closed Session with the City Attorney on November 25, 2019 per 40 <br />Minnesota Statute 13D.05, subd.3(b) to discuss this decision and the options for the City. At this 41 <br />point, the City considers this issue to be closed. She thanked the City Attorney for preparing this 42 <br />statement for the City Council. 43 <br /> 44
