Public Works Staff posted the position in order to hire a new employee. Only one qualified application was received. Public Works Staff reviewed the job description and made recommendations to the City Administrator to change the title of the Job Description from Parks Maintenance / Forestry to Public Works Arborist / Parks Maintenance. Discussion: The job description for the Public Works Park Maintenance / Forester has been reviewed with new updates and deletions. The job description is attached to this report with deleted duties denoted by “red lettering and strikethrough” feature and all corrected or new information in “blue lettering”. Staff requests the Council review the job position description and authorize review and pointing of the job description as needed. Below is the proposed schedule: Council Reviews and Approves new Position Description and Authorization to Advertise Position: January 13, 2020 Place on the League of Minnesota City Website and City’s website: January 14 Deadline for Submitting Applications: March 30 Review all Applications: April 1-8 Candidates Contacted for Interview: April 9 Interviews : April 13-17 Top Candidates Presented to City Council: April 27 Candidates starts employment: on or about May 18 Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Create a culture where employees desire to work and remain employed with Mounds View. Financial Impact: No financial Impact to the 2020 Budget.
