Mr. Wisser was actively involved with the Little Lakes Little League youth baseball as
a coach and volunteer and was a big fan of the baseball field at Greenfield Park.
At their February 25, 2010 meeting, the Commission discussed possible improvements for the ball
field memorial. The Commissioners suggested the following (in order of preference): 1) batting
cages, 2) dugouts, and 3) electronic scoreboard. City staff and the PRF Commission Chair met
with Ms. Wisser on March 1, 2010 to discuss the Commissions recommendations. The costs for
the ball field improvements (batting cages, dugouts, and an electronic scoreboard) are estimated to
be around $30,000. Ms. Wisser believes that there is enough memorial funds to cover these costs
and has requested that the ball field be named after her late husband as a condition for the
memorial funds.
City staff is looking for a recommendation from the PRF Commission regarding this memorial
proposal. Ms. Wisser is expected to attend the Commission meeting. If Commissioners agree to
recommend this memorial proposal, it is expected that the City Council will discuss the proposal at
their April 5, 2010 work session or April 12, 2010 regular meeting.
Attached for the Commissions reference is the City’s adopted Memorial Policy for Commission
reference.
Attachments:
• Memorial Policy
ITEM NO. 7A
