Cindy asked about the cost of replacing the sand with wood chips. Estimated about $7500. <br />There was some discussion about the sand wasps. Agreement is to replace sand with <br />chips as playgrounds are upgraded. <br />8. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Recommend Playground Improvements at Lambert Park – Nick: Soil correction and <br />irrigation are left to be done. Irrigation is recommended to promote a healthier turf with the <br />use the park sees. Do we want to proceed with the proposed playground? Will install the <br />fencing and backstop. Still evaluating the selection on the table and chairs for the building. <br />Whether to pave the tanker truck approach. Grading the field, put in a storm drain to <br />promote drainage. John said “Get It Done!” Cindy agrees, we all agree that we have <br />recommended all of those things, other than the playground. The $10,000 savings would be <br />the removal of about ¼ of the “big kid” portion of the playground. The original proposal was <br />$72000 for the playground. John feels get it done. Darren agrees, the cost is what it is. <br />Dave agrees with Darren. Gerald gives it the green light. Nick stated the balance of the <br />Park fund is $540,000. Gerald brought up donating the playground to a nonprofit for <br />retrofitting and sending to a foreign country. Cindy is concerned about the location of the <br />swings. Color select Maroon and Gold, number 5 and 2, Minnesota Colors, Jerry made a <br />motion that we proceed with the playground as original proposed as a price of $72,744.67 <br />coming from the Park Dedication Fund, in Maroon and Gold, to be installed this year. <br />Second by Cindy. Discussion on Funding Source and scheduling. Reworded original <br />proposal to reflect discussion. Cindy accepted amended motion, Should go to the council <br />on the 13th. Estimated 8 weeks from go date from City Council. Motion Passed 6-0. <br />B. Review Park Improvement Plan – move to next meeting – keep at beginning of unfinished <br />business <br />C. Review BBC Donations and Expenditure Status move to next meeting - move to next <br />meeting – keep at beginning of unfinished business <br />D. Recommend Irrigation and Baseball Field Improvements at Lambert Park – Nick: quotes for <br />irrigation, low quote $19,970 to do the entire park. Quote for fencing estimated at $10,640. <br />Estimate of $4000 for soil correction and grading. Motion made by Palm, “Proceed with <br />Lambert Park ball field improvements not to exceed $40,000 to come from Park Dedication <br />Funds.” Second by Long. No discussion. Motion passed 6-0 <br />9. NEW BUSINESS - None <br />10.
