John reiterated the need for students to be <br />able to safely get to school. Darren reiterated the need for contiguous paths, avoiding <br />extra crossing of County Road H. The current path is disjointed with paths and <br />sidewalks that are not connected. <br />4. Scott Marral 5046 Red Oak Drive: There is a slope on both sides of his drive, when and <br />how would that be handled? Nick: That would be handled in the design phase. There <br />would not be a retaining wall if possible, maybe a berm to keep the water on the <br />boulevard. Scott had particular questions about how that would be handled. Nick said <br />they would work with the property owner to implement the homeowner needs. There <br />may be a few between Red Oak and Sunnyside that may need to be built up to control <br />storm water runoff. Nick suggested they look at Edgewood drive north of Woodcrest to <br />see actually how those are handled. <br />5. Dan 5046 Eastwood Road: Has a privacy fence. W ould damage be paid for from <br />plowing? Nick stated if the fence is located in the right-of-way, it would not be covered; <br />but if it was located on property, the city may pay. <br />6. Kimberly Thompson 5051 Long Lake Road: The sidewalk would end up within 20 feet of <br />her house. She would no longer be able to have 4 cars on her driveway. Where would <br />her guests be able to park? She has lived on County Road H for over 40 years. <br />Complained bikes use the sidewalk. Said she had talked to a realtor about the impact <br />on property values. Stated she has seen people cross back and forth. Feels it would <br />seem like an extension of the road. She is opposed to the plan. <br />7. John spoke on what Ramsey County would do about vetting out what their long terms <br />plans would be. <br />8. Darren and Nick discussed the timing of the project, most likely next year. Darren <br />thanked the citizens for coming; Nick reiterated this is a proposal that would be brought <br />to city council for final approval. <br />7. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. YMCA, Tumbling, Swimming, Senior Picnic 5 came for food, will try different approach next <br />year. Starting to look at fall programs, soccer registration is open now, Summer Park <br />program finishing. Music-in-the-Park: Ken Lund was not a hit. 5K August 18th is getting <br />some registrations. Medtronic has been using the gym. Safety Camp canceled due to low <br />enrollment so will schedule earlier in the year next year. Ashley will be promoted within the <br />YMCA so there will be an opening. Next Music-in-the-Park will be the Teddy Bear Band. <br />B. Public Works – Update from Steve Dazenski, see the packet. Nick added Lambert is <br />complete. Remaining item is specs called for copper main power conductor. The <br />subcontractor put in aluminum. OK per code, but with the 300 amp panel the service is now <br />restricted to 230 amps, However the credit proposal was $5000, but we are looking at <br />replacing back to copper. Need to find out if the wire was installed in conduit, if not it will <br />have to be replaced. We are all in agreement that the wire be replaced to copper. <br /> The aerator at Silver View wiring has been installed by the power company. <br />John questioned the volleyball court at Groveland, could this be fixed up a little more? <br />With the bridge at Groveland Greenfield damaged, we all felt the bridge should be taken <br />out. <br />Cindy asked about whether we needed to recommend removal of the fire pit. Cindy and <br />John will inquire about Scout use of the fire pit, the pit may predate Dave. <br />Commented [CP6]: Merrell?
