April 25, 1989
Ms. Lois Hoel
2950 Valley View Lane
New Brighton, MN 55112
Dear Ms. Hoel:
citq
Of
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
2401 HIGHWAY10
MOUNOS VIEW, MINN. 55112
7843055
During the council meeting held Monday, April 24, you addressed the City Council
regarding your special interest in water exercise. Unfortunately, you did not
accurately report our telephone conversation. You neglected to mention that I offered
you several options including:
1. Participation in an early 7:00 a.m. program, although I was hesitant to assure
you of this option since past 7:00 a.m. programs have failed due to lack of
participation.
2. Participation in daily summertime open swims.
3. Participation in daily Senior Citizen Swims (55 and over)
4. Participation in evening lap swims.
5. Participation in evening water exercise.
In addition, I offered you several suggestions for additional programs at various
facilities including local health clubs, YMCA and other neighboring pool facilities. It
was explained to you that although it would be nice to be able to meet the needs of
each and every resident (and non-resident), a municipal recreation agency is designed
to program for the greater community; whereas, other private agencies (such as health
clubs and YMCAs) can cater to the special interests of its members.
