MEMO TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL
FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR 1 "'
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY
DATE: OCTOBER 18, 1989
SUBJECT: SILVER VIEW PARK MASTER PLAN COMMITTEE
Staff is requesting the City Council to consider appointing a committee to be involved
in the development of a Silver View Park master plan. This committee should be
involved in the formulation of survey questions regarding Silver View Park
development. For this reason, the appointment of a planning committee is the first
step of the Silver View Park Master Plan.
One option is to appoint the Parks and Recreation commission as the planning
committee. If Council chooses not to appoint the Parks and Recreation Commission,
staff recommends that this committee be comprised of seven members including
representatives of diverse segments of the City. Since a community park typically
offers both active and passive facilities, it would be advantageous to appoint a
representative of each. A possible committee composition could be as follows:
1. Park and Recreation Commission member
2. Neighborhood resident
3. Senior Citizen
4. Passive user
5. Active user
6. At -large community member
7. At -large community member
Staff liaison, Mary Saarion
RECOMMENDATION: Staff requests Council to consider appointing a committee for
the Silver View Park Master Plan as soon as possible so that the planning process can
begin as outlined in the master plan schedule.
MS/SL
