After a lengthy discussion, Commissioner Stevenson
moved to direct staff to write a resolution requesting
that the City Council consider any Highway 610
alternative that would include access points east of
Knollwood Drive with the intent to disperse traffic
before Groveland Park. It was further moved that
within the resolution, it should be expressed that the
Commission is concerned about the safety of children
using Groveland Park, as it is the most used
neighborhood park in Mounds View, should the
traffic flow by the park be increased due to access
points to Highway 610 being placed west of the
park. It was further moved that the Commission
suggest that the City Council select the alternative
that allows the least amount of traffic impact around
the park including an access point or points to
County Road J east of Knollwood and west of Red
Oak Drive. The motion was seconded by
Commissioner Long. Motion passed: 6 ayes, 0
nayes.
OTHER BUSINESS Councilmember Quick requested staff to check into
pumping water into Spring Lake. He asked that staff
call the Army to inquire about the cleaned water
from the Arsenal being pumped into the lake through
the aqueduct.
ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Commissioner Silvis,
seconded by Commissioner Long to adjourn the
meeting at 8:50 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Saarion, Director
Parks, Recreation and Forestry
7
