MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />April 26, 1990 <br />Mounds View City Hall <br />6:30 p.m. <br />CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by <br />Chairperson Wayne Burmeister. <br />ROLL CALL Commissioners present: Burmeister, Silvis, Starr, and <br />Stevenson. <br />Commissioners absent: Trettel and Long. <br />Staff present: Director Saarion and Administrative <br />Assistant Linke. <br />MINUTES A motion was made by Commissioner Silvis and <br />seconded by Commissioner Stevenson to approve the <br />March 22, 1990 minutes as written. Motion passed: <br />4 ayes, 0 nayes. <br />PRESENTATION OF Director Saarion presented Parks and Recreation <br />PLAQUE TO Chairperson Burmeister with a plaque commemorating <br />CHAIRPERSON BURMEISTER his 20th year on the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission. <br />CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT Chairperson Burmeister reported on the progress of <br />Lakeside Park. The Lion's requested that the name <br />be changed to Lion's Lakeside Park. It was stated by <br />both Chairperson Burmeister and Director Saarion that <br />this request has been met with controversy from both <br />the Spring Lake Park and Mounds View City Councils. <br />On May 7, a representative from the Spring Lake Park <br />Lions will be present at the City Council meeting to <br />formally request this name change. Director Saarion <br />added that in addition to going before the two <br />councils, the issue require a public hearing. <br />Chairperson Burmeister and Director Saarion stated <br />that resident Robert Halseth had expressed concern <br />regarding the name change, as he was one of the <br />original members of Playground, Inc., the founders of <br />Lakeside Park. Chairperson Burmeister suggested that <br />Playground, Inc. be acknowledged at the dedication of <br />
