-2 -
After the ceremony, a lunch could be served. Then the activities would begin. All the
activities would be nature orientated and suited for all ages. A few of the activities
would have an objective of "cleaning up the park" as well as having fun.
Perhaps specialists in orienteering and new games could be contracted to come in and
lead these two specialized activities which are great fun and participatory.
To follow the theme of Celebrate MN, prizes could be given out which advertise
Celebrate MN such as coffee mugs, t -shirts, cloth bags, etc.
A Celebrate MN banner could also be used to publicize that the City was the recipient
of the grant for the picnic shelter project.
The Commission thought that the 2nd or 3rd week of June would be a good time for
this event.
Again, these are ideas from the Parks and Recreation Commission, brought to you for
your consideration. Wayne Burmeister is generally available most evenings after 4:00
p.m. He stated that he would be happy to meet with you to discuss additional ideas
for a Celebrate MN celebration.
MS/SL
