-2 - <br />SILVER VIEW PARK <br />PROPOSAL REVIEW Director Saarion suggested that the Commission <br />make a final review and recommendation of the <br />proposal to the City Council. The Commission <br />discussed the trail and suggested that a hard surface <br />trail be installed along the north part of the pond <br />connecting Silver View Road and Long Lake Road <br />and the activity areas. Also, the Commission agreed <br />to include future extension of the sprinkling system <br />to the soccer field and to the picnic shelter area. <br />Thirdly, the Commission proposed that a pre-school <br />age play area be located west of the picnic shelter <br />and the handicapped accessible elementary age play <br />structure be located west of the picnic shelter. <br />Commissioner Long made a motion, seconded by <br />Commissioner Starr, to approve the Silver View Park <br />improvement plan with the preceding additions. <br />Motion passed: 6 ayes, 0 nayes. <br />CITY HALL FIELD NO. 1 <br />FENCING REQUEST Staff relayed a concerned residents request that a <br />fence be installed along the right field sideline to <br />alleviate missed softballs entering Edgewood Drive. <br />Chairperson Burmeister made a motion, seconded by <br />Commissioner Silvis, to direct staff to look into the <br />pros and cons of installation of the fence and the <br />cost of installation of a fence, to be presented at the <br />June 28 meeting. Motion passed: 6 ayes, 0 nayes. <br />CELEBRATE MN Mayor Hankner asked the Commission for ideas on a <br />date for the Celebrate MN and dedication of -the <br />Silver View Park picnic shelter. Commissioner Starr <br />suggested that the chosen date be as soon as <br />possible, considering the time needed for publicizing <br />and event organization. The chosen date was <br />unanimously agreed upon for Sunday evening, July <br />15, 1990. Activities should include a community <br />potluck, dedication ceremony, athletic competitions. <br />Staff was given the direction to organize an evening <br />of activities. It was suggested that a letter should be <br />sent to the Governor, Eagles and Lions Clubs. Also, <br />t -shirts, mugs and visors should be available for sale, <br />as well as the State Celebrate MN merchandise. It <br />was agreed that the event will be held rain or shine. <br />
