Answer. It was unanimously agreed upon by the group that the pathway around the
pond should remain woodchips to follow the concept theme of nature trail. The
construction of the pathway segments was a priority with the recommendation that
construction begin as soon as possible, hopefully to be completed by October of 1990.
The group also unanimously agreed that the active area of the concept plan should
have an asphalt pathway that would provide a surface for bicyclists, skateboarders,
rollerbladers, strollers and wheelchairs. This path would connect the active area
facilities.
Question „#7. Donations could be the greatest funding source for the majority of the
improvements at Silver View Park. What recommendations can this group give to
ensure that donations will be generously given and gratefully received to encourage an
atmosphere of good will and community service by the donating organization and the
City?
Answer. It was unanimously agreed upon by the group that donations should not be
rejected. Donations would be accepted under these circumstances:
1. If donations would provide the funding of improvements according to items on
the priority list, or
2. If insufficient monies are available to fund the improvement the donating group
could choose one of two options.
a. The City would retain the money until enough funds were accumulated
to fund the priority.
b. The group could choose another improvement in which the funds were
insufficient.
3. Facilities or improvements not on the master plan which wish to be funded by
the donating organization must comply with the park concept plan and must be
approved by the Parks and Recreation Commission and City Council.
Staff was requested to provide information for the next Task Force meeting. The
information would include prices and examples of playground equipment for pre-
schoolers, handicapped users and elementary age children as well as exercise
equipment to better plan a three stage funding process for the play equipment.
Also, staff will prepare a narrative to accompany the master plan packet which
explains the groups recommendations regarding the issues which were discussed.
The next meeting to review the final packet was set for Monday, April 16, 1990 at
7:00 p.m. Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
1*9
