Commissioner Stevenson made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Long to recommend to the City Council the acquisition of the three parcels of land. Motion passed: 6 ayes, 0 nays. Staff informed the Commission of the tight City budget and the likelihood that monies may not be available for the purchase of the properties. The Commissioners understood the circumstances. SPRING LAKE PARK - LAKESIDE PARK OPERATIONS REQUEST Staff reviewed the letter received by the Spring Lake Park Recreation Department regarding their Council's request to change operation responsibilities. Staff informed the Commission of Council's desire to discuss the issue. Staff had sent Mayor Wells information regarding in-kind services offered by the City of Mounds View to Lakeside Park. The Commission agreed that information such as this should be provided and discussed at a later date. Commissioner Stevenson added a final suggestion that perhaps the City should consider relinquishing responsibilities and annual funding for Lakeside Park. SECURITY LIGHTING AT GROVELAND PARK Staff informed the Commission that the City Council approved security lighting at Groveland Park through the installation of directional lighting Fixtures provided by NSP, to be placed on an NSP power pole. This option is the least expensive and is expected to provide more than adequate security lighting. WINONA AQUATIC CENTER REPORT Staff reviewed the report from Winona Parks and Recreation Department regarding financial data of their new water slide facility, as a point of interest. 1990 WARMING HOUSE/ RINK REPORTS Staff reviewed the survey report initiated by the profession regarding warming house/rink operations. Staff indicated that according to the survey, our operations are among the majority in most of the categories. 2
