o Snail Lake Regional Park -- The development plan for the picnic/beach area needs to be <br />implemented. The master plan will need to be amended to include the Grass-Vadnais <br />Lakes area. <br />o Preservation of Parkland — Policy adopted by the Ramsey County Board. Commission <br />efforts will focus on securing citizen support for a Home Rule Charter amendment. <br />o Cooperation/Collaboration/Consolidation — Ongoing. <br />o Revenue Enhancement -- Ongoing. <br />o Long Lake Regional Park -- The master plan amendment was approved by the County <br />Board on 11/9/93. Metropolitan Council approval is now needed. Plans need to be <br />developed for natural resource management and to provide access to the interpretive <br />area at Rush Lake. Continue to implement the development plan using available <br />funding resources. <br />Medium -Term (one or more <br />o Update Comprehensive System Plan for Ramsey County Parks and Open Space — <br />Larry Holmberg will resume working on the plan in November. <br />o Rice Creek Regional Trail Corridor — Cooperate with the city of Shoreview on the paved <br />development of the trail from County Road I to Lexington Avenue. Continue discussions <br />with Twin Cities Army Ammunitions Plant (TCAAP) representatives. <br />o Citizen Survey -- Grant funding or a budget allocation is needed. <br />o Gifts, Memorials, Naming of Facilities -- A staff person will be assigned to draft a <br />policy. <br />Annual Activities <br />o Capital Improvement Program — Annual Commission involvement. <br />o Operating Budget — Annual Commission involvement. <br />o State of the Parks Report -- Annual Commission involvement. <br />The work plan will be revised to reflect these comments. <br />Director's Repo <br />Mr. Mack distributed copies of "The Near Future of Play," an article from the September 1993 issue <br />of Landscape Architecture; and the November issue of News & Viervs. <br />Mr. Mack mentioned that the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association's annual conference will <br />be held November 17-19,1993, at the Earle Brown Heritage Center. Commission members are wel- <br />come to attend workshops. <br />Mr. Mack indicated that he and Mr. Holmberg have a conflict with the meeting time of the Decem- <br />ber 14 Commission meeting. It was decided that the regular meeting will be held on December 14, <br />at 5:00 p.m. <br />
