Jeffo's magic teaches <br />us what you.see is not always what is real, He shows that being <br />blind does not restrict one from doing amazing things. His <br />performance emphasizes the ability rather than the disability of <br />the b14nd and physically challenged, and promotes a respect and <br />appreciation of differences. <br />10:20-11:20 a.m. Keynote Presentation <br />Leadership, Management and Values <br />Speaker: Jamcs Wright, City Coordinator, City of <br />Minneapolis <br />Presider: Harvey Feldman, CLP, Assistant Superintendent of <br />Administration, Minneapolis Park and Recreation <br />Board <br />This session will focus on how managers of the 90's will <br />need the ability to effectively manage during a time of <br />transition and will be required to maintain their principles and <br />values while dealing with operations and politics. <br />11:30 a.m.-12:20 p.m. Lunch <br />12:30-1:30 p.m. <br />Measuring Effectiveness in the Workplace <br />Speaker: James Bourey, County Administrator, Hennepin <br />County <br />Presider: Doug Bryant, Superintendent, Hennepin Parks <br />This session is designed to provide us with a clear picture. of <br />how one major county government evaluates the effectiveness <br />of its programs. Participants will have a better understanding of <br />the value of measuring effectiveness and will discover new <br />techniques which can apply in their own agencies. <br />1.40-2:40 p.m. <br />Alternative Resources for the 90's: <br />Volunteerism <br />Speaker: Deb Vosler, Volunteer Coordinator, Hennepin Parks <br />Nora Davis, United Way Volunteer Center <br />Mark Langseth, Chief Operating Officer, National <br />Youth Leadership Council <br />Presider: Rick Schultz, Program Supervisor, Roseville Parks <br />and Recreation <br />Panel members will share with the audience how their <br />agencies utilize volunteers, including staff roles, <br />administration, recruitment, motivation and recognition. Also, <br />discover how involvement in community agencies, such as the <br />United Way and National Youth Leadership Council, can <br />benefit your agency. <br />2:40-3:00 p.m. Beverage Break <br />3:00-4:00 p.m. Panel <br />Community Program Resources <br />Speaker: Marge Jambor, Director, Sentencing to Service <br />Program, Ramsey County Corrections Dept. <br />Jerry Robertson, Supervisor, Community Services, <br />Ramsey County Corrections Dept. <br />Presider: Kevin Finley, CLP, Director of Operations, Ramsey <br />County Parks and Recreation <br />Panel members will share with the audience how their <br />programs can be a resource to local parks and recreation <br />departments. In particular, who is involved %with their programs <br />and how their programs work. Panel mcnbers will also give <br />examples of community projects in which they have been <br />involved. They will also share how they have dealt with union <br />issues, security and transportation. <br />4:05-5:05 p.m. <br />Fund Raising and Sponsorships, What Works <br />Speaker: Bill King, Minnesota Council on Foundations <br />Chris Park, Director of Communications and <br />Community Relations, Target <br />Susan Blakely, Accounts Manager, Colle and <br />McVoy Marketing and Communications <br />Presider: Mary Pat Black, CLP, Community Center Director, <br />Brooklyn Park Parks and Recreation <br />Panel members will share with the audience what programs <br />or events are attractive for the organizations or foundations <br />winch they represent, They will provide tips on how to solicit <br />and market your sponsorship requests. Panel members will also <br />discuss appropriate time lines, funding levels and recognition. <br />5:30---ti:30 p.m. <br />Introduction of "Serve and Volley" <br />Tennis Courts—Court-side Cash Bar <br />This is a 1994 program jointly sponsored by MRPA and <br />NWTA. Bring tennis shoes and tennis gear --you'll be on the <br />court. <br />7:00—? Evening Event — On -Site at Mall of America <br />Includes hors d'oeuvres, beverages, entertainment, golf at <br />Golf Mountain, and free entry to other nightclubs. Free Line <br />Dance Lesson at 7:00 p.m. <br />The Decathlon Club will provide free access to their <br />gymnasium and pool for their hotel guests.
