s <br />® That are the benefits? <br />O This summer, over 300 community youth/teens were off the streets and at recreational <br />facilities participating in summer recreation programs. <br />O Over 140 children of the community learned to become more safe in the water <br />because they took swimming lessons. <br />O Seventy-four children of the community are riding their bikes more safely because <br />they received free bicycle helment at the Bicycle Safety Clinic. <br />O Four Sunday evenings during the month of June, over 360 family members of the <br />community enjoyed music entertainment at Lakeside Park at no expense to the tax <br />• payer because the entertainment was funded by Medtronic Corporation and Irondale <br />Hockey Association. <br />O Over 30 youth of the community between the ages of 14 - 22 were employed as <br />recreation leaders during the summer - offering mentorship to youth of the community. <br />rF <br />O Fifty senior citizens saved car insurance money because they participated in the <br />55 -Alive Defensive Driving Program which saves them up to 10% off their insurance. <br />O Fifteen residents of the community reaped the benefits of garden vegetables and <br />flowers at Woodcrest Park Community Gardens. <br />O Tree damaged debris was picked up curbside throughout the City twice during this <br />summer as a result of two damaging storms that passed through Mounds View in an <br />effort to assist residents with their property tree damage burdens. <br />O Picnic shelters throughout the City served over 180 families or groups for parties/ <br />+I family gatherings, averaging 3 reserved picnics per week per facility. <br />O Community athletic fields served over 5 athletic association programs as well as <br />in-house city sponsored athletic programs - which means that lots of people are out in <br />the parks exercising and enjoying the social aspect of team sports during the summer <br />in Mounds View. <br />Reap the benefits of Parks and Recreation: <br />BE A RECREATION PARTICIPANT! r <br />110 <br />r r <br />ke <br />
