POSITION TITLE: <br />DEPARTMENT: <br />ACCOUNTABLE TO: <br />JOB DESCRIPTION <br />Director of Parks, Recreation & Forestry <br />Paries, Recreation & Forestry <br />City Administrator <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: <br />To organize, direct, implement and coordinate Department programs including Recreation <br />Programming, Park Facilities Management, Parks Maintenance, Development and Improvements, <br />Forestry Disease Control and Reforestation and Cable TV activities which results in effective <br />Planning, development and maintenance of park areas, recreation programs, and related forestry <br />and Cable TV programs and activities. <br />MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: <br />* Recruitment, training and supervision and evaluation of staff. <br />* Program planning and implementation_ <br />Administrative duties including development of department budgets, personnel, <br />reports, data collection, information research, presentations, funding proposals, <br />grants work, and other administrative duties. <br />" Park development and redevelopment of athletic facilities, beach, natural areas, <br />trailways, playgrounds, picnicking areas, park in.& ructure, and buildings meeting <br />ADA and safety requirements for all park facilities. <br />* Facilitate groups including task forces, volunteer groups, special projects, <br />cornn]Isstons, committees, and partnerships within the broader community. <br />* Establishment and implementation of customer service programs, marketing <br />programs, fundraising programs and training programs. <br />* Intbrmation and publications including regular preparation and distribution of <br />activities brochure, annual park facilities guide, gifts catalogue, professional <br />articles, newspaper articles and other publications. <br />Purchase of capital equipment? land services, goods and materials. <br />* Contractual agreements for services and ewertise including consultants, <br />engineering, labor services and architectural services. <br />* Fundraising and grant preparation for federal, state, county and locally <br />administered grant opportunities and funding organizations. <br />Park maintenancero <br />p grams, direction and evaluation for safety and function. <br />OTHER AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY <br />* Communications - Develops and implements effiective public relations programs <br />which will gerierare community and individual support for parks and recreation <br />activities. <br />
