operating costs. <br />Recruits, interviews, selects, trains, schedules and directs the activities of'temporary employees <br />and volunteers involved in assigned recreation programs to ensure efficient program operation. <br />Purchases or recommends purchase of needed equipment and supplies to maintain accurate <br />inventory. <br />Provides assistance on assigned recreation programs, activities, policies, and procedures in <br />response to inquiries form the public and other City employees. <br />Assists the Director of Parks and Recreation with preparing and monitoring the annual budget for <br />assigned recreation programs. <br />Prepares flyers, newsletter advertising, publications, information sheets and other written <br />information for distribution publicizing and marketing recreation programs. <br />OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES <br />Performs other duties and assumes additional responsibilities as directed by the Director of Parks <br />and Recreation to ensure efficient department operation. <br />DESIRED �M1a9J11d QUALIFICATIONS <br />Education and Experience: <br />(A) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's <br />degree in parks and recreation administration or a closely related field, and <br />(B) A variety of experience in recreation activity planning including aquatics, youth <br />sports, special events and youth progmmrning, and <br />m advanced Red Cross First :aid, or equivalent, or <br />(D) :any equivalent combination or education and relevant experience. <br />Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: <br />(A) Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of modern recreation <br />programs, considerable knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations and <br />techniques used in comprehensive community recreation programs. <br />(B) SMI in the operation of PageMaker or similar computer program for creating <br />flyers, news articles, publications in the marketing of recreation programs. <br />Ability to develop, coordinate, and direct varied activities involved in community <br />recreation programs; ability to train and supervise employees; ability to <br />communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to effectively give and <br />receive verbal and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain <br />effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and <br />
