little less accusing of the rink attendant, acknowledging
that his son was wrong in his actions but also stating that
the rink attendant should not have shoved his son. Staff
reported that the rink attendant would be advised to call
the police in the occasion that such a similar incident
occurs rather than dealing with the fighting people. The
father did not like this idea, and was unable to come up
with a suggestion for dealing with a fighting, verbally
abusive and non -complying teenager.
Friday, February 11, 1994: 4:00 p.m.
Mr. LaHoud, Mites Coach with Lake Region Hockey Association
came in and spoke with Tim Cruikshank to state that he
thought the conditions of the ice at Lambert Park was bad.
He accused the Parks Crew of being lazy and drinking coffee
the entire day and stated the Parks and Recreation Director
didn't give a "s " about skating rinks. He wanted a
meeting to tell the department how to maintain the ice. Mr.
LaHoud was insulting and accusing in his conversation with
Tim Cruikshank.
Monday, February 16, 1994
Staff received a telephone call from Mr. Hammond who called
to inquire why Lambert Park building was not opened Monday
or Tuesday evenings, February 14 and 15. His hockey team
arrived at Lambert and because the building was not opened
they moved to Hillview Park to practice. He was very kind
in his inquiry and stated that he did not want to get the
rink attendant in trouble because he had been very helpful
during the season and that he had heard that there was a
concert at Irondale HS and that a sub had been called in.
Mr. Hammond was thanked for his call and stated that staff
would look into the matter. Upon inquiry it was determined
that Jacob had a concert and had called Mike Bloomquist to
sub and that he did not show up either day.
These are the only three complaints that were received by
Department staff. Calls were received regarding the inquiry as to
whether or not rinks were going to be closed on days that were
extremely cold. These however were not complaints but rather
requests for information.
