Kroeger: the role of the Park and Recreation Commission: to look <br />over the programs provided, how they are being used fee structure, <br />how the gym is used,... <br />No news on when the next meeting is. <br />c) Park Usage Survey/ Data Collection— Any updates on the data collection <br />process. Include in the March / April addition of the Mounds View <br />Matters? <br />• Deadline is Monday January 26, 2004 to submit information for <br />the March / April Mounds View Matters. <br />• Commissioners decided NOT to put the park use survey in the <br />Mounds View Matters. <br />• Commissioners (Kroeger / Mandoza) will develop a description on <br />how to fill out the park usage survey — guidance information. <br />• The Commission gave direction to staff to put an article to ask <br />request assistance in filling out the Park Usage Form. <br />• Forms will be available at City Hall and on the WEB site, the <br />instructions to be developed by the commissioners will be printed <br />on the back. <br />d) Community Survey — On hold <br />• Several firms have been contacted. <br />• However, the City has not contract with any firm to do the survey. <br />e) Garbage Collection Fund — On hold <br />• Next step is to get a written description of their program. <br />I) City Council Appointments —On January 12, 2004, the City Council <br />approved Resolution No. 6162 appointing John Kroeger to another term <br />on the Park and Recreation Commission and appointing him as <br />Chairperson on this Commission. <br />• The Chairperson is appointed annually <br />g) Ice Rink Update <br />• The rinks were established twice this year. <br />• Now with the colder weather the rinks are doing better. <br />• There is about 6" of ice. <br />• The rink survey should include hockey skaters as well as pleasures <br />skaters. <br />• Edmond asked what causes the boils in the ice. ANSWER: <br />Dazenski: This is caused by the fermentation of the soil <br />underneath (gases). There's not much we can do about it. If it gets <br />too bad it can be chopped up. <br />2 <br />
