Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission Meeting Minutes <br />December 20, 2007 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />NOTE: The Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners will be meeting at the Mounds View <br />Community Center to tape a portion of the parks promotional video following this meeting. <br />1. Call to Order at 6:31 P.M. <br />Roll Call: Kunz, Kroeger, Palm, Arel, Long, Peterson. Aukee present 6:35 <br />Staff Present: Dazenski, Weldon, Prindle, Van Alstine <br />2. Approval of minutes from the November 15, 2007 meeting. Motion by Kroeger, 2"d by Long to <br />approve the minutes. Motion Passed 6-0 <br />3. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners <br />on issues of concern. No residents present <br />4. YMCA Update - Weldon <br />Ice rinks opened last weekend. Closed during the week, open again Friday 12/21 into February. Limited <br />hours Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Check out city website <br />for hour posting, or call MVCC. Hours vary during Winter Break, compared to when school is in session. <br />5. Unfinished Business: <br />a.) Parks Promotional Video — Any further discussion / coordination for the Parks Promotional Video. <br />Taping at the Mounds View Connnrnrity Center will commence following this meeting. Aukee will <br />schedule a time to meet with VanAlstine to shoot hockey footage at Lambert and Hillview Parks. <br />b.) Greenfield Park Pubic Meeting Notice — A public meeting notice to discuss the long tens plan for the <br />current parkland and trailway was not published in the January edition of the Mounds View Matters. <br />The meeting was set for January 24, 2008 at 6:30pm (just before the regularly scheduled Parks and <br />Recreation Meeting). Issues to consider: <br />1). How does the Commission want conduct the meeting? <br />a) Define parkland not as open space, nor undeveloped, but clarify to residents that we are <br />looking for potential long -tens use of existing amenities and not make changes to the <br />existing ball field and playground. <br />b) 3 -minute time limit for those who wish to speak <br />2). What information does the Commission want to make available? <br />a) Public notice as drafted with suggestions and area map with area labeled as parkland and <br />trailway. <br />b) Direct staff to place a notice in the area newspapers, Bulletin and Sun Focus, and <br />post in the city ball and MVCC bulletin boards, include in TV scroll, and city website. <br />3). What displays does the Commission want? <br />a) map of the park and trailway <br />b) map of proposed disc golf options <br />c) any visuals and information regarding 2002 proposals if they exist <br />4) The notice should be directly mailed to the nearby property owners that received the previous <br />letter for public meeting <br />
