Exhibit A <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Park and Recreation Superintendent <br />Department: Park and Recreation / Community Center <br />Accountable to: Director of Public Works/Park and Recreation <br />Status: Exempt <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITON <br />Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation this <br />position is responsible to proactively supervise park and recreation personnel and effectively <br />implement work plans for the reliable and long-term recreation programming and Community <br />Center operations, and maintenance. The superintendent serves as the leader regarding the <br />development of Recreation programs and develops partnerships with other cities and agencies <br />to further promote and implement the overall goals of the Park and Recreation Department. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general guidance and direction of the Director of Public Works/Park and <br />Recreation. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Direct supervision over all assigned personnel in the Park and Recreation Department. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />• Prepare, develop and supervise a year-round diverse program of recreation activities and <br />services to meet the needs and interests of the community utilizing all available facilities. <br />• Administer long- and short-range plans to meet community needs for all recreation programs <br />and events and update as needed. <br />• Supervise and delegate duties to department personnel, including assigning tasks, evaluate <br />performance, provides training, etc. <br />• Assist Human Resources in recruitment and selection of Park and Recreation staff. <br />• Train Park and Recreation personnel for programs. <br />• Lead planning and design efforts for park and recreation facilities assuring the safety, <br />function, and cleanliness of the facilities. <br />• Work with Department Director to prepare and present the operating budget for the <br />community center and capital budget for the parks fund. <br />• Prepare grant applications when they become available. <br />• Assist as a liaison on the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission with the Department <br />Director. <br />• Assist in planning, implementing and maintaining cooperative relationships with school, civic <br />and other community groups as well as other City departments. <br />• Assist in overseeing department communications, including input to the City's newsletter, <br />program flyers, and department content on the City website, news releases, social media <br />and department productions in collaboration with the City's Communication Technician. <br />• Attend City Council meetings as required by the Department Director. <br />• Responsible for following and complying with City policies and procedures. <br />• Ensure a safe and healthy work environment and conduct business in a safe manner. <br />• Maintain an inventory of all Park and Recreation property and equipment. <br />• Assist with reconciling Community Center financial transactions. <br />• May work evenings and weekends as needed. <br />• Perform other duties as assigned. <br />
