Park and Recreation Superintendent <br />October 26, 2020 <br />Page 2 <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />• Bachelor's degree in recreation administration or related field. <br />• Minimum five (5) years of experience in the recreation field working in a municipal or county <br />setting. <br />• Minimum of two (2) years direct supervisory experience. <br />• Valid driver's license. <br />DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE <br />• Master's degree in recreation, public administration or related. <br />• Three (3) years of experience in recreation facility management. <br />• Experience with recreation related software. <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br />• Knowledge of development and implementation of recreation and athletic programs for all <br />ages and abilities. <br />• Working knowledge of ADA requirements as it pertains to recreation and leisure programs. <br />• Working knowledge of safe practices and procedures in planning and overseeing recreation <br />programs. <br />• Proven management abilities in community and government relations; budget development <br />and financial control; staff management and development; property and building <br />management and volunteer development. <br />• Ability to think conceptually with good analytical skills and demonstrated assertiveness to <br />manage the scope and diversity of the responsibilities. <br />• Considerable ability to show initiative, be dependable, and exhibit self-confidence and <br />maturity with others. <br />• Proven ability to resolve conflicts with public or within workplace. <br />• Considerable ability to develop and maintain relationships and communicate effectively both <br />orally and in writing, including making presentations to groups. <br />• Considerable ability to effectively represent the City, department, and administrative <br />operations to management and the public. <br />• Working ability to facilitate effective presentations at public meetings. <br />• Ability to perform research and evaluate information and prepare reports and <br />recommendations. <br />• Ability to handle multiple demands and priorities and achieve organizational objectives. <br />• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. <br />TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED <br />Laserfiche and Microsoft Office Suite applications in a windows environment; copy machine; <br />postage machine; and calculator. <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS <br />The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an <br />employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
