CVZ
Ile would then back fill the area with compacted granu-
lar fill, having less than fifty percent passing a
#40 sieve, and less than five percent passing a #200
sieve. The reason we feel this is a priority project
is that by doing the soil corrections in the fall of
1986, it would allow them to settle over the winter.
StatC'tl 6bia_atc for aGi corrections are $6 ,nnn
$8,000.00. -
Staff envisions that we will serve as general contrac-
tors for this project and have contacted three excava-
ting contracting firms to complete the jab on a time
and materials basis. The three firms are Begin Con-
tracting Company, Carl Bolander and Sons, and Mary
Anderson and Sons. The place of equipment we would en-
vision using is a 955 Traxcavator, which would allow us
the ability to do dozer work as well as some type of
shaping of the excavated material into berms adjacent
to the tennis court area. The estimates we received
with an operator,'ranged from a low of $60.00/hour from
Begin Contracting Company, to a high of $84.00/hour
from Carl Bolander and Sons. Staff would recommend
that we retain Jerome P. Begin Contracting Company at a
rate of $60.00/hour for a 955 Traxcavator, and staff be
authorized to expend no more than $6,000.00 for the in-
itial soil excavation and compaction. "S
In addition to the soil corrections, we need to relo-
cate the utility wires that are running through 7
Groveland Park underground, as they will be interfer-
ring with the tennis court construction, as well as
future tree growth. Staff has received an estimate
from NSP in the amount of $7,000.00 to complete the
project. Staff feels that both of these projects can
be completed this fall, which will make for a smootn
construction timeline in the spring of 1987 assuming
the City Council approves the fundirq for Groveland
Park. Staff will be on hand to review the Park
Commission's policy, as well as discuss the proposed
improvements at Groveland Park at Monday evening's
meeting.
