Exhibit C <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: <br />Sports Instructor <br />Department: <br />Parks and Recreation <br />Accountable to: <br />Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br />Status: <br />Non -Exempt Part -Time <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITON <br />This position is responsible to lead a group of community youth in assigned sports programs. The <br />Sports Instructor will encourage skill development, sportsmanship, safety, and fair play, all while <br />having fun. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general guidance and direction of the Parks and Recreation Superintendent. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />None. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />• Explain rules and regulations to sports team/group. <br />• Instruct participants during practice on sports techniques/fundamentals of the game. <br />• Assure equal playing time for all participants. <br />• Maintain a positive attitude regardless of the outcome of the game. <br />• Take attendance at the beginning of each session and assure that each attendant is picked <br />up at the end of the session. <br />• Assist with distribution of team equipment (rosters/jerseys/balls, etc.). <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />• Knowledge of specified organized sport (may include: T-Ball, softball, baseball, basketball, <br />soccer, volleyball, floor hockey, or tumbling). <br />• Desire to work with the public. <br />o Be available to work a part-time schedule of up to 20 hours per week. <br />• First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 30 days of hire. <br />• Willing to work with people of diverse backgrounds. <br />• Ability to work flexible schedules including day and evening hours. <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br />• Ability to work well with youth. <br />• Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate team sporting events for youth. <br />• Ability to motivate youth in sporting events. <br />• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with youth. <br />• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. <br />• Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills. <br />TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED <br />Sporting equipment, scoreboards, uniform, whistle, and stopwatch will be provided. <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS <br />The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an <br />employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. <br />
