Staff also sent out and RFP for soil borings and pavement analysis of the streets
sections being proposed for re -construction. Staff received two proposal as follows:
1) Braun Intertec — Proposal Cost of $10,140.00
2) American Engineering and Testing, Inc. (AET) — Proposal Cost of $12,064.00
Residents will once again have the option of the Private Improvement Program, this is
the same program that has been offered to residents in all of the street projects. The
Private Improvements include widening the width of the driveway apron and replacing
the sanitary sewer line from the main to the parcel property line. Residents will also
have the option to have CIPP (cured -in -place -pipe) installed rather than replacing the
sewer line.
All driveway apron widenings must be approved by the Community Development
Director. Community Development will also require all non -conforming driveways and
aprons to be corrected.
Stantec's final street design will be based on Braun Intertec Corporations geotechnical
and pavement evaluation report. Stantec has provided a construction estimate of
$4,250.000.00, this does not include any water main work, gate valves and sanitary sewer
main line repairs, cured in place pipe work (CIPP).
Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Maintain and Plan for Infrastructure Improvements.
Financial Impact: Financial Impact to 2021 Budget a budget adjustment in funding from
the Street Improvement CIP-budget would be needed. The current 2021 budget has an
estimate of $75,000 for Engineering Pleasant View Dr.
Recommendation: Staff recommends the City Council adopt the attached Resolution
approving Stantec to begin the preliminary survey, assist with community engagement
and the preliminary design on the 2022 -2023 Pavement Rehabilitation Project at a cost
of $416,900.00.Staff further recommends the proposal from Braun Intertec Corporation
for the pavement analysis of the project area at a cost of $10,140.00. All to be funded
from the Street Improvement Fund 485-4470-7050.
Respectfully submitted,
Don Peterson
Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation
The Mounds View Vision
A Thriving Desirable Community
